Biloxi Mission Trip Update

Pastor Barden called at 4:00pm Monday, November 7, 2005, and said they had arrived in Biloxi at 2:00pm, after a long, tiring 24-hour drive. The trip went smoothly until the very end where they started entering the devastation area. All bridges, except one, were out, and their directions pointed them to a bridge that was out. They got lost for a little while trying to find the one operational bridge. They only ran into heavy traffic a couple of times on the trip. By 4:00pm, they had their campsite set up in a grassy area near the ocean, which used to be the area where homeless people lived. How ironic – almost everyone is homeless now. They were going to an orientation meeting so they will be prepared to start work tomorrow.

Pastor’s description of the area is “UNBELIEVABLE”! It is completely flat – it is like it was bombed. There is devastation everywhere. There is a 2-story casino building that is washed up on the shoreline.
